Native Doctor who Buried Victims Alife in Enugu Soakaway,.2 Others Charged with Kidnapping

A Magistrate court in Enugu has remanded three individuals in connection with charges of ‘kidnapping and murder’.
The accused, Obi Levi Obieze, alao known as “E dey play e dey show”, Sabastine Emeka Offor, and Odinwamkpa Ejike, were formally charged on Wednesday before Magistrate Osondu Chukwuani at Court 1 in Enugu North, facing a seven-count indictment related to conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder.
Obieze was apprehended in May at the Badagry-Seme border amidst allegations of an attempted escape from the country. During this period, law enforcement discovered decomposing bodies encased in concrete within a pit at an unfinished building purportedly owned and utilized by the suspect.
The charge sheet, designated as MEN/473c/2025, alleges that the defendants kidnapped Ukamaka (13), Chimaobi Ezi (15), and Joy Miracle Udokamma (31), employing violence against them.
It is reported that Ezi and Udokamma were subsequently murdered.
The charge sheet partially reads, “…conspired among yourselves to commit a felony, to wit: murder, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 494 of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004.”
During the court proceedings, Attah, the police prosecutor, informed the magistrate that the charges pertain to capital offences. Nevertheless, the defendants entered pleas of not guilty.
The magistrate ordered their detention in prison and instructed the state’s director of public prosecutions (DPP) to assume responsibility for the case and present suitable charges before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The matter was adjourned to August 20 for further mention.
In May, the Enugu state authorities demolished Obieze’s residence, citing its policy against structures associated with kidnapping activities.
In the interim, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu has forwarded a bill to the state house of assembly aimed at banning practices related to rituals, including the use of bulletproof charms, locally referred to as “odeshi”.
