Army Frees 7 Kidnap Victims in Taraba Clearance Operation

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued seven kidnapped victims during a clearance operation in Taraba State, military authorities announced on Tuesday.

According to a statement released by the Defence Headquarters, the rescue mission was conducted by troops of Sector 3, Operation WHIRL STROKE, in coordination with local vigilantes.

The victims were freed from a suspected kidnappers’ den in Chanchanji general area of Takum Local Government Area.

The operation, which took place following credible intelligence, led to a swift and coordinated assault on the criminal hideout. All seven victims were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, said the military remains committed to restoring peace in the region and ensuring the safe return of all abducted persons.

“The troops will continue to intensify operations to flush out criminal elements in Taraba and other parts of the North East,” Buba said.

The rescue comes amid renewed military efforts to tackle rising incidents of kidnapping and banditry in the North Central and North East regions. Residents have lauded the operation and called for sustained security presence in remote areas.
