Abbey Mortgage Bank Appoints Okonkwo as Executive Director

Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc has heralded the appointment of John Okonkwo as Executive Director responsible for Finance, Risk, and Operations, as part of its strategic initiative to fortify its executive management cadre and bolster operational efficacy.

 

Okonkwo, a consummate professional with over twenty years of experience, will guide the strategic direction and harmonization of the Bank’s finance, risk management, and operational functions.

 

His appointment has secured the endorsement of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The Bank stated that this decision aligns with its long-term strategy to deliver customer-centric financial solutions and enhance institutional resilience.

 

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Samuel Oni, remarked: “We are pleased to welcome John to the Board. His vast experience in finance, risk management, and corporate governance will be pivotal in deepening our institutional resilience and achieving operational excellence as we continue to position Abbey for sustained growth.”

 

Managing Director of Abbey Mortgage Bank, Mobolaji Adewumi, added, “John’s appointment arrives at a pivotal juncture in our transformation journey. His profound expertise and leadership will further fortify our operational foundation, enabling us to build a more resilient, efficient, and customer-focused institution.”

 

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Okonkwo is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme at the Lagos Business School (LBS). He commenced his career at KPMG and has held senior positions in esteemed organizations such as Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa Plc, and VFD Group Plc.

 

Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc offers a comprehensive suite of services including mortgage loans, construction finance, equity release, savings and investment products, as well as digital banking solutions.
