PDP Victory in Ibadan By-Election Will Cement Party’s Dominance, Says Makinde
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that a win for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election would reaffirm the party’s political strength and dominance in the state.
Speaking during the official campaign flag-off at Bodija Market, Ibadan, on Monday, Governor Makinde presented the PDP flag to the party’s candidate, Mr. Folajimi Oyekunle, whom he described as trustworthy, competent, and the best choice to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.
“A victory in this by-election will send a strong message that PDP remains the dominant party in Oyo State,” Makinde said.
He thanked the people of the state for their continued support since the start of his administration and urged all eligible voters in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency to rally behind the PDP candidate on August 16.
The campaign flag-off drew party supporters, market leaders, and residents, many of whom expressed support for Oyekunle’s candidacy.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Folajimi Oyekunle Campaign Organization, Mr. Ademola Omotosho, called on voters to turn out in large numbers on election day to ensure a resounding victory for the PDP.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of the former occupant of the seat, Hon. Olaide Akinremi.
