Oyebanji Commends FG for Roads in Ekiti, Gives Update on Agro-Airport, Commends Interfaith Harmony

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has lauded the Federal Government for initiating the rehabilitation of three out of six critical federal roads in the state, describing the move as a response to long-standing public outcry.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti during the 40th anniversary of Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello as the Chief Imam of Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji acknowledged the deteriorating condition of federal roads and assured residents that tangible progress was underway.

According to a statement released on Monday by his media adviser, Yinka Oyebode, the governor confirmed that construction works had commenced on three major roads while the state government had taken it upon itself to rehabilitate a fourth.

“We can assure you that construction work will soon commence on the two other road projects, while the Ado–Ikere–Akure Road is on the verge of completion,” Oyebanji said.

He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “unwavering support” and commitment to infrastructure development in Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji also provided a crucial update on the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport, revealing that the facility is awaiting federal approval to begin commercial flight operations, following the issuance of a six-month non-scheduled flight clearance in December 2024.

“The Ekiti Airport project is a product of a collective decision by Ekiti leaders and stakeholders to open up the state to the world,” he said.

The governor congratulated Sheikh Kewulere Bello on his four-decade service as Chief Imam, describing him as a devout cleric and a unifying force in the state.

“I congratulate you, Baba, for this celebration, and my prayer is that Allah will grant you a long life… Allah will compensate you for all the good work you do for the state and the Muslim community,” he said.

Oyebanji also expressed deep appreciation to the Muslim community for their continued support of his administration, stating:

“I thank you so much for your understanding, your trust, and your support. I can’t wish for a better relationship than what we have in Ekiti State.”

The governor further commended Rev. Emmanuel Aribasoye, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ekiti, for attending the event and fostering interfaith cooperation. He hailed the unity between Christian and Muslim leaders as essential to peace and development in the state.
