Gov Alia Orders Crackdown on Killers of Two Benue Youths

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has ordered a swift and thorough crackdown on those responsible for the brutal killing of two Igede youths in the state.
The victims were reportedly ambushed and murdered while traveling along the Awajir–Oju road, an area that has recently witnessed rising tensions and insecurity.
The governor, who made the directive public during a security briefing on Monday, condemned the killings as a senseless act of violence and assured residents that the state government would not allow such crimes to go unpunished.
“I have directed security agencies to leave no stone unturned in tracking down those behind these heinous acts. We must restore peace and ensure justice for the victims,” Governor Alia stated.
The incident comes amid broader concerns over escalating violence in parts of Benue, particularly in rural communities plagued by herder-farmer conflicts and communal disputes. In a related development, Governor Alia also decried a recent attack in Nyifon community, Buruku Local Government Area, where several people were reportedly injured during a clash stemming from a boat dispute.
The governor appealed to traditional rulers, youth leaders, and community members to support security agencies with credible intelligence that could aid investigations.
He emphasized that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and restoring law and order across the state.
