ADC Accuses El-Rufai of Plot to Hijack Kaduna Chapter

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to infiltrate and hijack the party structure for his personal political agenda.

Addressing journalists during a press conference held in Kaduna on Monday, ADC leaders accused the former governor of orchestrating a covert campaign to take over the party using loyalists from his former political machinery, now said to be operating under the banner of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Speaking on behalf of the party, Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, a prominent ADC leader, declared that the party would not allow itself to be used as a vehicle for anyone’s private political ambitions.

“We are open to all Nigerians who believe in our values,” Mustapha said. “But we will not allow our party to be turned into a political vehicle for anyone’s personal project. El-Rufai’s subversive moves are unacceptable and will be strongly resisted.”

The ADC, he noted, was founded on principles of transparency, inclusiveness, and people-oriented leadership.

The party, according to him, is determined to offer a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), not to become an extension of any political godfather’s influence.

Mustapha stressed that while the party welcomes genuine participation and democratic aspirations from all citizens, it will not tolerate the kind of behind-the-scenes maneuvering that has characterized Nigeria’s older political parties and contributed to the country’s underdevelopment.

“We have seen the damage caused by elite-driven politics and godfatherism,” he added. “What we are building in the ADC is a movement for the people, not a shelter for recycled politicians with questionable motives.”

The ADC urged its members to remain vigilant and united, warning that any internal or external attempts to destabilize the party in Kaduna would be firmly opposed. Party stakeholders across the state have been placed on alert to guard against infiltration and ensure the party’s internal structures remain intact.

The party’s warning comes amid growing political realignments in Kaduna State ahead of the next election cycle, with several high-profile figures reportedly seeking new platforms to stage a comeback.
