Suspected Herdsmen Kill Mother, Son After Earlier Killing Husband in Benue

Suspected herdsmen have allegedly launched an attack on Tse-Nyibiam, a village near Ngban in the Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, killing a mother and her son.

The victims, identified as Mlumun Iorhen Igbawua and her son, Terkimbir Iorhen Igbawua, reportedly met their untimely end while attending to their rice farm—the very land where their husband and father, Benjamin Iorhen Igbawua, was brutally slain earlier this year in May.

Sources reveal that the killings occurred as the mother and son were engaged in weeding the rice field, which had lain fallow since the initial attack that claimed Benjamin’s life. His remains still repose in the morgue, pending interment.

A family member disclosed that Terkimbir’s wife, initially reported missing post-attack, narrowly evaded death despite enduring torture at the hands of the assailants. She has since been found and reunited with her family.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement concerning the incident.
