FRSC Arrests Over 15,000 Traffic Violators in Ondo State in Seven Months

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has arrested more than 15,000 traffic offenders in Ondo State within a seven-month period spanning January to July 2025. The development highlights a significant escalation in road traffic enforcement activities aimed at promoting safety and curbing dangerous driving habits across the state.

According to the Ondo State Sector Command of the FRSC, the 15,145 offenders were apprehended for a range of violations, including speeding, overloading, failure to use seat belts, use of mobile phones while driving, and vehicle roadworthiness issues. The command noted that the high number of arrests is the outcome of intensified patrols, special operations, and a renewed focus on public education campaigns.

The state’s FRSC leadership emphasized that the enforcement drive is part of a broader national strategy to reduce the rate of road crashes and improve compliance with traffic regulations. In addition to arrests, many of the offenders were referred to mobile courts for immediate trial, with penalties ranging from fines to mandatory safety education.

Officials further explained that the crackdown is not merely punitive but designed to promote behavioral change among road users.

They urged motorists in the state to prioritize safety and obey traffic rules, warning that enforcement would continue without compromise throughout the year.

The command reiterated its commitment to collaborating with other security agencies and stakeholders in ensuring safer roads in Ondo State and beyond.
