AFRIMA Appoints New Continental Voices to International Jury for 2025 Edition

In the lead-up to the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), the award body—organized in collaboration with the African Union—has announced the induction of three new regional experts into its elite 14-member International Jury.
The new additions include Marwane Fachane from Morocco (North Africa), Asma Ilado from Kenya (East Africa), and Messie Mboukou from Congo Brazzaville (Central Africa). These respected figures join an already diverse panel of industry professionals responsible for identifying and honoring the most outstanding music talents across Africa and its diaspora.
Each of the new appointees brings a wealth of expertise from the fields of music, media, youth development, and cultural advocacy.
Fachane, who serves as Executive Director of the Hiba Foundation, described his appointment as “an honour,” adding, “This platform plays a critical role in celebrating African creativity and amplifying our stories globally.”
Mboukou, widely known for his work in music communication, event curation, and digital media, emphasized the importance of investing in young talent.
“Africa’s wealth lies in its youth and cultural vibrancy. If we support emerging artists and collaborate meaningfully, the future of African music is incredibly bright,” he said.
Ilado, a seasoned journalist and cultural consultant, expressed optimism about uncovering fresh voices on the continent. She also highlighted challenges in the industry, pointing out the need for more investment in production, training, distribution, and rights protection.
AFRIMA continues to position itself as a major platform for African music recognition and cultural exchange, as excitement builds ahead of the 2025 edition.
