Police Spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi Now Deputy Commissioner
The Nigeria Police Force has announced the elevation of its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
The elevation, approved by the Police Service Commission, recognizes DCP Adejobi’s exemplary service, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to effective policing and public engagement in Nigeria.
Adejobi, who began serving as the Force PRO in acting capacity on February 16, 2022, rose through the ranks with a track record of strategic communication, transparency, and reform-driven advocacy. He succeeded then-Commissioner of Police Frank Mba and was later confirmed by the then Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd).
Throughout his tenure as the face of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Adejobi has led efforts to rebuild public trust, enhance accountability, and modernize communication strategies.
His proactive engagement with the public, especially via digital platforms, has made him one of the most recognizable voices in Nigerian law enforcement.
A scholar as well as a police officer, Adejobi holds a combined honours degree in Archaeology and Geography and a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, both from the University of Ibadan.
He previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ogun State from 2008 to 2016, building a reputation for community engagement and transparency.
In a congratulatory message, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised DCP Adejobi’s leadership and urged him to continue upholding the core values of the Force discipline, service, and integrity.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to rewarding merit, professionalism, and ethical conduct, emphasizing that such promotions are part of ongoing efforts to reform and reposition the institution for more effective service delivery.
