Nigerian Man Cycling From Lagos to the U.S. Arrives Côte d’Ivoire After 31 Days

Emmanuel Myam, popularly known as Emmiwuks, has arrived in Côte d’Ivoire after cycling for 31 days on a daring solo journey from Lagos, Nigeria, to the United States.

The cyclist, who embarked on the adventure on July 1, 2025, aims to raise awareness about the plight of displaced children in Africa and to inspire young people through his bold and symbolic expedition. His journey has taken him through several West African countries, including Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana, before reaching Côte d’Ivoire, marking a significant milestone in the early stage of his transcontinental ride.

With only a bicycle, a backpack, and a strong sense of purpose, Emmiwuks has braved long distances, challenging terrains, and changing weather conditions. Despite the physical and logistical demands of such a trip, he has remained determined and optimistic, often sharing moments of his progress with growing online supporters.

His arrival in Côte d’Ivoire was met with celebration, as images of the cyclist smiling and appearing in good spirits surfaced shortly after he crossed into the country. Wearing a sports jersey and carrying essential gear, he looked unfazed by the strain of the journey, signaling his readiness to continue his path forward.

Although the route to the United States is complex and uncertain, with numerous geographical and bureaucratic hurdles ahead, Emmiwuks remains committed to completing the trip.

He is expected to continue his ride through more West African countries before potentially navigating routes through North Africa or seeking international support to reach North America.

His journey, while unconventional, has drawn widespread admiration and is increasingly being seen as a symbol of perseverance, purpose, and the unyielding spirit of Africa’s youth.

As he pedals on, Emmiwuks continues to inspire thousands who follow his story — one revolution of the wheel at a time.
