Lagos PDP Expels Defectors to ADC

Members of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have been formally expelled from the party.
The expulsion was recently proclaimed by Segun Edwards, the spokesperson for the Elders Caucus and Chairmen of the party across the 20 local government areas. He conveyed that a stakeholders’ meeting, comprised of party elders and chairmen from the 20 local government areas, was convened to deliberate on the outcomes of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja last week.
Edwards revealed that all party members who openly aligned with the coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), were expelled forthwith. This decision, among other resolutions—including directives for local government chairmen to begin preparations for the upcoming congresses of the party, from Local Governments to the National Convention scheduled between September and November this year—was reached during the expanded Stakeholders meeting.
Arising from the meeting, the party elders and local government chairmen expressed disapproval over the actions of certain members who openly aligned themselves with the ADC, asserting that they had violated the party’s principles by their overt declaration for the ADC while still being members of the PDP.
The enlarged Stakeholders assembly consequently put forth a motion for the expulsion of all members who openly aligned themselves with the coalition, and all the elders unanimously voted for their expulsion.
