Edo Governor Appoints New Special Adviser on Oil and Gas

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has named Barrister Kasimu Otono as his new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, replacing Felix Isere who was suspended from office on Tuesday.
Isere’s suspension stemmed from allegations of unauthorized fundraising for an upcoming Oil and Gas Summit in Benin City.
Kasimu Otono brings a wealth of experience to the role, with expertise in law, real estate, and community development.
As a senior partner at Kay and Kay Legal, a firm specializing in commercial, real estate, and oil and gas law, Otono is well-equipped to advise on matters related to the oil and gas sector. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
The governor had previously instructed Isere to refund all monies collected from donors and cautioned the public against engaging with him further. This move underscores the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The proposed Oil and Gas Summit, initially scheduled for August 7, has been suspended pending further review. The governor’s office has assured the public that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the effective management of the state’s oil and gas resources.
