Aviation Unions Give FG 7-Day Ultimatum Over NAMA Salary Dispute

The aviation sector unions in Nigeria have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, over the non-implementation of a new salary structure for Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) workers.
Despite concluding negotiations over eight months ago, the agreed salary adjustments remain unimplemented.
In a joint letter, the unions warned that if the issue is not resolved within the next seven days, they will commence a total withdrawal of services nationwide.
The ultimatum, which expires on August 7, threatens to disrupt aviation operations and cause inconvenience to passengers.
The unions expressed frustration over the delay, stating that their members have been expressing discontent over the non-implementation of the salary adjustments agreement.
They advised NAMA clients to be aware of the notice and potential disruptions to services.
The unions are urging the Minister to intervene and ensure the implementation of the new salary structure to avoid a shutdown of NAMA operations. The situation remains tense, with aviation workers prepared to take drastic action if their demands are not met.
