Senator Ekong Praises President Tinubu for Timely Police Promotions

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the timely promotion of senior officers in the Nigeria Police Force, describing the move as a step in the right direction for strengthening professionalism and boosting morale within the security agency.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the senator particularly applauded the elevation of Commissioner of Police (CP) Olatoye Durosinmi Ita, highlighting the promotion as a recognition of merit, discipline, and dedication to duty.
“This is a well-deserved promotion. CP Ita has shown professionalism, leadership, and commitment throughout his career, and his elevation is both timely and appropriate,” Senator Ekpenyong stated.
The lawmaker, who represents Cross River South Senatorial District, said President Tinubu’s action demonstrates a genuine commitment to reforming the internal security architecture of the country. He added that timely and merit-based promotions are critical to motivating officers and encouraging effective policing.
Senator Ekpenyong urged the newly promoted officers to remain committed to upholding the rule of law and maintaining public trust in the police force. He also called on the federal government to sustain reforms in the sector, including improving the welfare and training of police personnel.
The senator’s remarks come amid broader national discussions about restructuring the police and enhancing accountability within security institutions. Analysts say the latest round of promotions aligns with the Tinubu administration’s emphasis on performance and institutional discipline.
