Peter Obi Yet to Join ADC, Remains Active in Opposition Coalition – Abdullahi

Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has not formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to a statement by Abdul-Azeez Suleiman Abdullahi, a key figure within the coalition.

Abdullahi clarified the status of Obi amid growing speculation that the former governor was switching party affiliations ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized that while Obi remains a prominent member of the opposition coalition, there has been no official confirmation of his membership with the ADC.

“He is still part of the coalition of parties working to strengthen democracy in Nigeria. However, he has not yet become an official member of the ADC,” Abdullahi stated.

This clarification comes after a series of public appearances and meetings between Obi and ADC leaders, which had sparked rumors about a possible defection. Political observers say his continued alignment with the coalition highlights ongoing efforts to consolidate opposition forces ahead of future elections.
