INEC, NOA Strengthen Collaboration for Voter Sensitization

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) have reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts in public sensitization and mobilization to boost voter participation in elections. The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by NOA Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, to INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, in Abuja.
Yakubu emphasized the importance of advocacy and sensitization of citizens in the electoral process, highlighting NOA’s central role in this regard. He expressed INEC’s readiness to work with NOA, particularly ahead of the Anambra governorship election and the forthcoming nationwide Continuous Voter Registration.
The INEC Chairman noted that while INEC would continue its voter education efforts, NOA should work with stakeholders to mobilize voters and increase turnout, especially among underrepresented demographics such as youths, women, and persons with disabilities.
Yakubu mentioned that NOA had been included in the expanded membership of INEC’s Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) and would play an active role in the National Inter-Agency Committee on Voter Education and Publicity (NICVEP).
Issa-Onilu emphasized the need for joint efforts to address the lack of awareness about the mandates of INEC and NOA at the grassroots level. He appreciated INEC for the opportunity to collaborate and strengthen their partnership.
