Northern Region Has No Reason to Regret Supporting Tinubu, Asserts Bagudu

Minister of National Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, has affirmed that the Northern region has no reason to regret its support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking at the Government-Citizen Engagement Forum in Kaduna, Bagudu emphasized that the region is adequately represented and involved in the current administration.

Bagudu dismissed claims of marginalization, describing President Tinubu as a nationalist who prioritizes competence and clear vision over ethnic or regional bias.

He urged Northern leaders and citizens to reject divisive narratives suggesting the region is being sidelined, stressing that the administration is built on inclusion, merit, and national unity.

The Minister highlighted the administration’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and foreign exchange liberalization, as necessary steps to put the economy back on track.

He cited Adamawa State’s increased federal allocation from N9.76 billion in May 2023 to N22.73 billion in June 2025 as evidence of the reforms’ positive impact.

Bagudu pointed to key institutional reforms, such as restoring the budget office to the Ministry of National Planning and creating new ministries like Livestock Development, Arts and Culture, and the Blue Economy.

These reforms, he said, are strategic steps to promote national development and broaden inclusion.

Bagudu urged Northern stakeholders to engage more proactively with democratic institutions, particularly in shaping the national budget.

He emphasized the need for the region to articulate its needs, lobby lawmakers, and ensure priorities are reflected in national plans.
