No Part of Plateau Under Bandit Control, Says Governor Mutfwang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has declared that no local government area in the state is currently under the control of bandits or terrorists. Speaking during a meeting in Jos, the governor dismissed claims suggesting otherwise, stating that while the state had experienced attacks in the past, all affected areas have since been secured by security agencies. Mutfwang acknowledged that local governments such as Wase and Kanam had previously come under threat, but maintained that swift responses from security forces had prevented any group from taking control. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining the security of lives and property across the state. The governor revealed that the state has reactivated Operation Rainbow, a local security outfit, and has intensified collaboration with federal security agencies to strengthen surveillance and intelligence gathering. According to him, these measures have significantly improved Plateau’s internal security operations. He also renewed calls for the establishment of state police, arguing that the current centralized system is ineffective in dealing with localized security threats. Mutfwang noted that state governments are often left helpless in emergencies due to the bureaucratic delays involved in deploying federal forces. While appealing for continued cooperation from residents, the governor assured that the state government will not relent in its efforts to prevent further infiltration by criminal elements. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security operatives.
