We Didn’t Dissuade Obi from Presidential Contest, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Clarifies

The apex Igbo cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has clarified that it did not issue a statement warning former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race.
The group’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, described the viral social media report as false and misleading.
Chukwu emphasized that the current leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, led by President-General Senator John Azuta Mbata, would never make such statements.
He reiterated the organization’s commitment to promoting the welfare of the Igbo nation and national development through justice, fairness, and equity.
The public and media outlets are advised to disregard any statements purportedly from Ohanaeze Ndigbo that may be aimed at manipulating public opinion.
The group maintains its non-partisan stance and has not endorsed any presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
