Ibadan Mourns: State Burial Set for Late Olubadan

The Olakulehin Royal Family has announced the funeral arrangements for the late 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 90. According to the royal family, the state burial will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, with a church service and interment at the Cathedral of Saint Peters, Aremo, Ibadan.

 

 

A series of activities have been planned to honor the late monarch, including a football cup, table tennis tournament, and interfaith service. The events will begin on Sunday, August 3, 2025, with the Olubadan Olakulehin Football Cup semi-final matches. The royal family has expressed gratitude to the government, traditional leaders, and the general public for their condolences and support.

 

 

The late Olubadan’s legacy will be celebrated through various events, culminating in a family Thanksgiving service on Sunday, August 10, 2025. The state government has approved the burial, and the ceremony is expected to be attended by dignitaries and prominent individuals.

 

 

The Olakulehin Royal Family appreciates the outpouring of support and condolences from President Bola Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, and other stakeholders. The family acknowledges the significance of the late monarch’s contributions to the development of Ibadan and the state.
