Fayose Warns Politicians: “APC Will Bench You Before You Destroy Their Party”

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose, has issued a sharp warning to politicians attempting to challenge or destabilize the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that the ruling party has zero tolerance for internal sabotage and will not hesitate to sideline dissenting voices.

Fayose made the statement during a radio interview on 100.5 FM Ado Ekiti, where he addressed current developments in Ekiti politics and his recent interactions with President Bola Tinubu. Reflecting on the internal discipline within the APC, Fayose remarked: “APC will never allow you to destroy their party, they will rather bench you. You may never recover again.”

The former governor, who served under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed that he had visited President Tinubu on two occasions. According to him, the President made it clear that his political loyalty was with Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State. “I went to President Tinubu twice and he told me I’m with Gov Oyebanji,” Fayose said during the broadcast, suggesting that the president was firmly backing the current state administration.

Fayose’s comments come amid ongoing political realignments and subtle jostling within the APC, particularly in the southwest. His statement appears to be a veiled caution to political figures who may be plotting to hijack the party’s structures or override existing leadership in a bid for personal influence.

Although no names were directly mentioned, political observers believe Fayose’s remarks were aimed at individuals within or outside the APC who may be contemplating destabilizing the party’s power structure in Ekiti or at the national level.

While Fayose is no longer an active member of the PDP and has distanced himself from partisan politics in recent years, he continues to make headlines with his frank assessments of Nigeria’s political landscape. His latest comments reaffirm his reputation as a fearless and outspoken political actor, unafraid to comment on the affairs of parties beyond his own.

The statement has since gone viral on social media platforms, sparking debates among political supporters and critics about internal party discipline, loyalty, and the survival of politicians who challenge party supremacy in Nigeria.
