Tinubu Mourns Victims of Yola Flood and Niger Boat Mishap

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incidents in Yola, Adamawa State, and Niger State, where several lives were lost due to a devastating flood and a boat mishap, respectively.
In a statement released on Monday, the President extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the affected communities. He described the occurrences as deeply distressing and pledged the federal government’s support to the governments of the affected states.
“The loss of lives in these unfortunate disasters is deeply saddening. My prayers are with the families who are mourning, and I assure them of our administration’s commitment to strengthening response efforts and preventing future tragedies,” Tinubu said.
Emergency responders and relevant agencies have reportedly been deployed to the affected areas to conduct rescue operations and offer humanitarian assistance. In Niger State, local authorities confirmed that the boat mishap, which occurred on the River Niger, involved dozens of passengers, some of whom are still missing.
Similarly, the Yola flood has displaced several residents, destroyed properties, and disrupted daily activities in parts of the state.
President Tinubu called for improved safety measures on waterways and increased collaboration between federal and state governments to address climate-related disasters. He emphasized the importance of proactive planning and investment in infrastructure to mitigate the impact of such emergencies.
Authorities have urged citizens to heed safety advisories and cooperate with rescue teams as investigations and recovery efforts continue.
