NAF Airstrikes Eliminate ISWAP Commanders in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under Operation HADIN KAI, has successfully eliminated several high-value commanders and fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a precision airstrike conducted in Borno State.
According to a statement by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the air interdiction mission was executed on Saturday, July 27, 2025, targeting Arina Woje, a notorious ISWAP stronghold located in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno.
The enclave is widely known as a haven for senior insurgent leaders and logistics hubs.
The strike followed a series of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations that confirmed a resurgence of terrorist activity in the area after recent clashes among rival jihadist factions.
ISR data had shown the movement of foot soldiers, reactivation of camps, and hidden command and logistics centers masked under thick vegetation.
“Aircrew on arrival acquired and prosecuted pre-selected targets using precision-guided munitions, achieving devastating effects,” the NAF spokesman stated.
Preliminary battle damage assessment indicated the successful destruction of multiple enemy structures, including facilities believed to be hosting key ISWAP leaders and storing vital logistical supplies.
The operation dealt a serious blow to the terrorist group’s operational planning and resupply capabilities.
The Nigerian Air Force emphasized that this operation is part of its sustained effort to deny terrorist groups safe havens, restrict their mobility, and support ground troops in restoring peace and security across the region.
Ejodame concluded that the success of the mission reinforces the critical role of intelligence-driven air power in modern counter-terrorism efforts.
