Lagos, Ogun Brace for 25-Day Power Outage

Lagos State and parts of Ogun State will experience a 25-day power outage starting July 28 to August 21, 2025, due to maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line. The outage will occur daily from 8 am to 5 pm.

The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) confirmed that the disruption is necessary for a critical infrastructure upgrade, enabling the full operationalization of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system.

This upgrade will enhance real-time monitoring and management of the power grid.

Affected areas include the entire Lagos State and parts of Ogun State, such as Sagamu, Ogijo, and Abeokuta. The affected distribution companies, including Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) and Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), have apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that normalcy will be restored after each daily outage.
