Kebbi Governor Counsels Youths to Acquire Skills for Self-Reliance

The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has encouraged young people in the state to acquire skills that will make them self-reliant and future employers of labor. The governor made the call during the 2025 Kebbi State Youth Cultural Event held at Umaru Waziri Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.
The event, which was themed “Let’s Unite and Showcase Our Tradition,” aimed to promote unity, cultural preservation, and economic empowerment among youths.
The Commissioner for Works, Faruk Muslim, who represented the governor, emphasized the importance of skill development in individual and socio-economic growth.
The governor’s wife, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir-Idris, also highlighted her foundation’s commitment to supporting youth development through training and empowerment programs. She urged young people to be agents of peace and development.
The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, noted the significance of culture in fostering peace, unity, and development, citing the Argungu Fishing Festival as an example of the state’s rich heritage.
The event featured traditional performances, exhibitions, and interactive sessions that encouraged youth participation in preserving Kebbi’s cultural values and promoting economic empowerment.
