FIRS Chairman Commended for Selfless Service as Nation Prepares for Key Reforms

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has been commended for his selfless dedication and patriotic sacrifice in the course of national service, as tributes poured in during a ceremony marking his birthday.

Speaking at the event, a top official from the FIRS praised the Chairman’s decision to resign from his previous position upon appointment by the President, citing his firm commitment to avoiding any conflict of interest.

“When Mr. President appointed him, without even considering the future and the past, he sacrificed all he has and said that the best thing to do this job is to resign. That is what we all dreamt of, and there is no bigger sacrifice,” the official stated.

The speaker noted that the President deeply appreciates the Chairman’s integrity and has shown confidence in his leadership by granting him and his team full autonomy to deliver on their mandate.

“This is not a committee that will just propose you propose and you implement,” the official added, referencing the President’s remarks during the committee’s inauguration. He further expressed gratitude for the support and guidance provided by the Honourable Minister of Economy, particularly as the nation anticipates the presidential assent of a key reform bill expected in the coming weeks.

Congratulating the Chairman on reaching a new milestone, the speaker said, “Congratulations for the first half that has been done, and I’m welcoming you to the real work. The one you’ve just handled was timed I’m not sure the other one will be.”

He closed by praying for divine strength and looking forward to greater achievements in the years to come.

“By God’s grace, when we are celebrating your 60th, it will be the real gain that we’ll have,” he said.

The event was attended by colleagues, dignitaries, and representatives from the FIRS and the Ministry of Economy, all of whom praised the Chairman’s commitment and vision for national development.
