Amotekun, So-Safe Corps Nab Notorious Criminal in Ijebu-Ode

The Ogun State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), has arrested a suspected notorious criminal, Usman Abdullahi, popularly known as A.K., during a coordinated operation in Ijebu-Ode.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Deputy Corps Commander of Amotekun in Ogun State, Col. Tajudeen Bakare (rtd), who described the joint operation as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
According to the statement, the suspect, a native of Lumbasa Local Government Area in Katsina State, had long been on the wanted list of multiple security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, for his involvement in various criminal activities across the Ijebu axis.
Acting on credible intelligence, Amotekun operatives located Abdullahi near the So-Safe Corps office in the Itoro Local Government area of Ijebu-Ode on Saturday.
The team quickly mobilized and, in concert with So-Safe Corps officers, moved to apprehend the suspect.
“Upon receiving the reliable intelligence, the Amotekun operation team swiftly swung into action, converging with the So-Safe Corps officers at the location for the coordinated operation which led to the successful apprehension of the suspect,” Bakare said.
Security operatives recovered several items from the suspect, including a locally made pistol, a knife, two ice bunkers, lighters, and a waist charm, before handing him over—along with the exhibits—to the Obalende Police Division for further investigation and prosecution.
Bakare emphasized that the arrest reflects the growing effectiveness of collaboration among security outfits in Ogun State, particularly the synergy between Amotekun and the So-Safe Corps.
“This successful operation highlights the commitment of the Amotekun Corps to maintaining peace and security across the state,” he said. “It demonstrates the Corps’ dedication to working closely with sister agencies to combat crime and ensure public safety.”
He praised the officers who carried out the operation for their bravery, urging residents to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
“The fight against crime is a collective responsibility. We urge the public to continue cooperating with local security agencies to maintain the relative peace in Ogun State,” Bakare added.
