Akwa Ibom Open Employment Floodgates, to Recruit 3000 into State Service

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the recruitment of 3,000 qualified professionals into its Mainstream Civil Service, in what officials have described as a strategic initiative to boost public service delivery and empower the state’s youth.
The recruitment, approved by Governor Umo Eno, spans multiple disciplines including education, healthcare, engineering, law, agriculture, science, and public administration.
Announcing the development in a statement released on Monday, the Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Frank Ekpenyong, said the process will be conducted entirely through the state’s official ARISE Youth Employment Portal
“These appointments span every discipline and cadre, including teachers, nurses, administrators, engineers, scientists, state counsels, technicians, accountants, agriculturists, and many more,” Ekpenyong stated.
He noted that the move aligns with the state’s ARISE Agenda, a key policy thrust of Governor Eno’s administration aimed at promoting transparency, innovation, and sustainable job creation.
Prospective applicants are required to create a profile on the portal and upload necessary documents, including academic certificates, NYSC discharge or exemption certificates, and other relevant credentials. Importantly, each candidate is allowed to apply for only one position that aligns with their qualifications, and a valid email address must be used as the sole means of communication throughout the process.
Shortlisted applicants will be notified via the portal and will be required to accept their shortlisting online. They will subsequently receive QR-coded interview invitations.
“Some roles may require an aptitude test, for which clear instructions and dates will be communicated on the portal. Candidates are expected to come with their invitation slip, original certificates, and writing materials,” the statement read.
Final notifications will also be sent through the portal, and successful candidates will be directed to the relevant departments for documentation and onboarding. The employment status on the ARISE Portal will then be updated to “Employed.”
Ekpenyong further confirmed that ministries and agencies are currently finalising their specific vacancy requirements, with detailed listings expected to be published on or before July 31, 2025.
“We wish all applicants the very best and thank you for your interest in serving the state,” the commissioner concluded.
The recruitment drive is seen as a significant step in revitalising Akwa Ibom’s civil service structure and tackling unemployment among the state’s educated youth population.
