D’Tigress Thrash Rwanda 92-45 in FIBA Afrobasket Opener

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, kicked off their 2025 FIBA Afrobasket title defense with a commanding 92-45 victory over Rwanda in Abidjan.
The team dominated from the start, establishing a 17-8 lead in the first quarter and maintaining their advantage throughout the game.
D’Tigress players Elizabeth Balogun, Victoria Macaulay, and Murjanatu Musa were instrumental in the team’s success, showcasing their skills and experience. Nigeria’s emphatic performance reasserted their dominance in African women’s basketball.
In other tournament action, Senegal easily defeated Guinea 92-48 in their opening group game.
D’Tigress will face Mozambique next on Monday at 4 p.m. at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, seeking to build on their strong start and maintain their title aspirations.
