11 Injured in Michigan Walmart Stabbing, Suspect in Custody

At least 11 people sustained injuries during a stabbing spree at a Walmart store in Traverse City, Michigan, on Saturday, according to local authorities.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the attack, which occurred inside the supermarket.
Although the motive remains unclear, law enforcement said investigations are ongoing.
Three of the victims were reported to be undergoing surgery, while others received emergency medical attention.
The Munson Medical Center, the nearest hospital, confirmed that it was treating all 11 victims. “As a result, our Emergency Department is currently experiencing a higher-than-usual volume of patients,” the hospital said in a social media update.
Videos shared online showed a heavy police presence, including ambulances and emergency vehicles stationed outside the store.
Federal officials, including the FBI, have offered assistance. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said agents were on the ground to support local law enforcement in handling the aftermath of the “multiple stabbing incident.”
Reacting to the attack, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed shock and solidarity with those affected.
“Our thoughts are with the victims and the community reeling from this brutal act of violence,” she said in a statement, noting she remains in contact with law enforcement agencies.
Traverse City, a quiet tourist destination in northern Michigan, is located about 255 miles northwest of Detroit.
