Osita Chidoka Endorses Governor Soludo for Second Term, Hails His Leadership as “Transformational”
Former Minister of Aviation and prominent public policy advocate, Chief Osita Chidoka, has formally endorsed the re-election bid of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, describing him as “Odịụkọ na Mba”—the rare one not easily found.
Chidoka made the endorsement during a well-attended event organized by the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone in support of Governor Soludo’s second-term ambition. In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Ikechukwu Okafor, the former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) commended the governor’s leadership, financial prudence, and developmental vision.
“In 2025, the question is no longer ‘Is it broken?’” Chidoka said.
“The real question is: why drop the spoon when the soup is tasty? Ndi Anambra, the pot is still on the fire. The aroma of progress is in the air.”
Chidoka praised Soludo’s record in urban renewal, digital governance, educational reform, and infrastructure development, insisting that the momentum of progress must not be disrupted. He further emphasized the importance of continuity in governance to consolidate on the gains made under Soludo’s leadership.
“Soludo is the only son of Anambra who has kept money for the whole of Nigeria, and today, he is keeping Anambra’s money with care, vision, and discipline,” he said.
Using the Igbo proverb “Ula tọba uto, ekwobeya ekwobe” when sleep is sweet, you don’t wake up, you roll over and enjoy it Chidoka likened Soludo’s tenure to a period of productive calm that should not be interrupted. “Let’s not break the rhythm. Let the Solution continue. Let Odịụkọ finish the course,” he urged.
Governor Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and an internationally respected economist, was sworn in as governor in March 2022 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
His administration has since embarked on bold reforms aimed at repositioning Anambra State as a model of progressive governance in Nigeria.
Chidoka, who served as Aviation Minister under President Goodluck Jonathan from 2014 to 2015 and was also a one-time special adviser to the PDP National Chairman, has recently shifted focus from partisan politics to civic advocacy.
In November 2024, he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to dedicate himself to governance reforms and evidence-based policymaking through his non-partisan platform, the Athena Centre.
His endorsement is expected to boost Governor Soludo’s support base ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial election, as the governor seeks to continue his reforms and transformation agenda for Anambra State.
