North-Central APC Hails Yilwatda’s Emergence as National Chairman
The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has expressed delight over the emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman of the APC, describing it as a historic win for the North-Central geopolitical zone and a triumph of justice within the party.
In a statement issued shortly after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his role in resolving what the Forum described as a longstanding leadership imbalance within the party.
“This is a major milestone for stakeholders of the North-Central under the umbrella of the North-Central APC Forum,” the statement read. “For more than two years, we agitated for the return of the position of National Chairman to the North-Central in line with the current zoning arrangement.”
Zazzaga stated that the Forum’s efforts included legal action, public protests, open letters, and press statements all carried out with a sense of commitment and respect for the party’s leadership.
“We fought with doggedness while continuing to respect the leaders of the party, even when certain decisions did not favour us.
“We are indeed glad that at last, justice has been done, our voices have been heard, and the North-Central has been given what rightfully belongs to it, they said.
Professor Yilwatda’s appointment was officially ratified at Thursday’s NEC meeting, succeeding Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned from the position on June 27, 2023. With this development, Yilwatda is expected to immediately take full charge of the party’s affairs as its new helmsman.
The North-Central APC Forum pledged its full support for Yilwatda’s leadership and called on all party stakeholders across the country to unite behind him to further strengthen the party.
The Forum also used the opportunity to shower praise on President Tinubu, describing him as a leader who listens and leads with fairness.
“The North-Central APC Forum sincerely thanks President Bola Tinubu for listening to our call for the return of the National Chairmanship to the North-Central region. This has once again proven beyond any doubt that President Tinubu is a listening President,” Zazzaga said.
“He has shown uncommon political will and sound judgment, which are evident in the reforms and initiatives he has championed to place Nigeria on a progressive path.”
The Forum expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s capacity to steer the party toward greater unity and electoral success, emphasizing that his emergence marks a new chapter not only for the North-Central but for the entire APC family nationwide.
