APC Welcomes Kwankwaso,Others, Says Yilwatda

The newly appointed Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the party remains receptive to former members who have departed for other political affiliations, inviting them to return.

In an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Thursday, when questioned about the circulating rumors regarding the potential return of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Yilwatda affirmed, “I have mentioned before, our doors are open.”

He expressed confidence that, over time, President Bola Tinubu’s performance would entice those who previously exited the APC to rejoin the party.

“When the time is ripe for everyone, it will become evident. Simply allow more time, and you will witness individuals independently recognizing the party’s manifesto, the government’s achievements, and the bold decisions undertaken by the president,” he remarked.

“If, as a governor, you observe that the government’s revenue has surged by over 40 percent in the past month and continues to grow, would you not wish for such a government to endure?”

Kwankwaso was initially a member of the APC before transitioning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July 2018, and subsequently joining the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in March 2022.

Yilwatda, who served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction prior to his current appointment, ascended to the chairmanship of the APC on Thursday following his nomination and election by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

The Plateau State native succeeded Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s chairman after Ganduje resigned from the position in June, citing personal reasons.
