Uzodimma, APC Governors Hold Strategic Meeting Ahead of Key NEC Session
Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a strategic closed-door meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, ahead of the party’s crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) session slated for Thursday at the Presidential Villa.
The meeting, which is ongoing as of the time of filing this report, is being hosted at the private lodge of Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the umbrella body of all APC governors.
According to sources familiar with the gathering, the meeting is part of efforts to harmonize positions among APC governors and forge a unified stance on key issues expected to dominate the agenda of the NEC meeting, including party restructuring, reconciliation efforts, and preparations ahead of upcoming off-cycle elections and the 2027 general elections.
Among the early arrivals at the meeting were Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum; Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya; and Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule. Others include Governors Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and Monday Okpebholo of Edo.
Also in attendance were Governors Bassey Otu (Cross River), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna).
Although details of the meeting remain under wraps, a source within the party hinted that discussions would likely center on internal party unity, emerging political alignments, and the party’s strategy for retaining power across key states.
Governor Uzodimma’s role in convening the meeting underscores his continued influence within the APC, particularly in navigating internal consultations and fostering cohesion among governors who play a critical role in the party’s electoral and governance architecture.
The outcome of Thursday’s NEC meeting is expected to shape the APC’s direction in the coming months, especially as the party contends with internal power dynamics, zoning debates, and opposition challenges.
