Three Teenagers Drown in Bauchi River After Mining Activity ‎ ‎

‎Three teenagers have tragically lost their lives in a drowning incident in Jinkiri Village, Tirwun Ward, Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.


‎The victims Habibu Mohammed (16), Abubakar Mohammed (16), and Zailani Sule (14) all hailed from Durum Village in the same LGA. According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. while the teenagers were swimming in a nearby river after engaging in mining activities.

‎Police spokesperson CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil confirmed that despite immediate efforts to obtain medical help, the boys were pronounced dead before reaching the hospital.

‎The bodies were examined at the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, and have since been released to their families for burial.

‎Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and emphasized the need for increased safety measures around water bodies, particularly during unpredictable weather conditions.

‎An investigation has been launched to uncover further details surrounding the tragedy. The Command also reiterated its commitment to community safety and public awareness campaigns to prevent future occurrences.
