Sycophants Deluding Tinubu that All is Well with Nigeria, Says Garba

Adamu Garba, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed concern that sycophants surrounding President Bola Tinubu are misleading him into believing that all is well within the country and the ruling party, when in reality, the situation is quite the opposite.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Tuesday, Garba, a former presidential aspirant, characterized the opposition coalition formed under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as vultures poised to exploit the vulnerabilities of the APC, particularly in light of Abdullahi Ganduje’s contentious resignation as the APC national chairman.

“They (ADC coalition) anticipate our downfall, which is why we must be earnest,” he remarked. “This underscores the necessity for us to be genuinely honest with ourselves and ensure that the party leadership is someone who is candid, capable of heeding criticism, and willing to accept facts without any obsequiousness, as I perceive a multitude of sycophants surrounding the president; individuals are assuring him that all is well—when, in fact, it is not.”

Garba further elaborated on the attrition experienced by the APC in northern Nigeria subsequent to the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari, attributing it to the void left by his passing.

“Inherently, such tensions are bound to arise,” he observed, highlighting that the 12 million votes from the northern bloc, which Buhari had consistently garnered in previous elections leading up to his eventual triumph in 2015, were absent even before his death in early July 2025.

“Buhari vacated the presidency in 2023, and upon examining the results of the 2023 election, the APC secured merely 5.5 million votes in the north. Where did the 12 million votes vanish?

“Yet, we managed to secure victory through the established system, existing structures, and strategies implemented. What we require now is to recalibrate our strategies in light of his absence,” Garba asserted.
