Coalition Leaders Pledge Support for Whoever Emerges ADC Presidential Candidate, Amaechi Assures

Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation, has announced that coalition leaders are poised to back the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections, irrespective of who they may be.
Amaechi, who served two terms as governor of Rivers State, conveyed this message in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, on Wednesday.
During a press briefing, he articulated that opposition leaders are confident the process of selecting the party’s nominee will be conducted with transparency, integrity, and fairness.
“The moment someone emerges from the primary, we will all lend our support; that is the consensus,” Amaechi affirmed.
“We are steadfast in demanding a free, fair, and transparent primary,” he emphasized.
The former stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also lamented the pervasive hunger and hardship afflicting the nation.
He urged the residents of the oil-rich Rivers State to enroll with the ADC and oust the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.
“Every Rivers native who harbors goodwill toward the state and nation should register with the new party to ensure we unseat the current administration and alleviate the widespread hunger,” Amaechi asserted.
The ADC has been chosen as the vehicle to contest President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid from the ruling APC.
Among the distinguished members of the new coalition are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, both of whom were runners-up in the recent presidential election.
Other seasoned politicians within the group include former Senate President David Mark, who, like Atiku, has departed from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Also part of the coalition is former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.
At the coalition’s unveiling on July 2, Mark, serving as the interim chairman, declared the coalition’s mission to safeguard the country’s democracy and prevent Nigeria from devolving into a one-party state.
