Anambra 2025: YPP Vows to End Insecurity, Revive Economy if Elected
The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has pledged to tackle the growing insecurity in Anambra State and restore socio-economic activities if elected in the upcoming November 8 governorship election.
Speaking during cultural festivities in the Umudioka and Ogidi communities on Sunday, July 20, the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Uzu Okagbue, highlighted the devastating impact of insecurity on the state’s economic and social fabric.
Addressing residents at the Mkpikpa and Nwafor festivals, Okagbue described the celebrations as powerful symbols of cultural pride and resilience.
However, he noted that the festivities were subdued compared to previous years due to the persistent fear and insecurity gripping the state.
“It is not just a celebration it is a reminder of who we are. But today, I saw reduced crowds, cautious elders, and shorter processions.
These are subtle yet clear signs that our people are living in fear,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
Okagbue said that insecurity in the form of armed robbery, cultism, and kidnapping for ransom has not only claimed lives but also crippled businesses and disrupted daily life across Anambra.
He assured voters that the YPP is committed to restoring peace and stimulating economic activities through decisive action against criminal elements.
“If given the mandate, we will not only secure our communities but also reawaken the economic strength and social vibrancy of our dear state,” he said.
The YPP’s message comes as political parties ramp up grassroots engagements ahead of the crucial off-cycle election that will determine Anambra’s next governor.
