APC Picks Sa’idu as Flagbearer in Kaura Namoda By-election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has elected Hon. Kamilu Sa’idu as its flagbearer for the upcoming Kaura Namoda North State Constituency by-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.
Sa’idu emerged unopposed during the party’s primary held on Sunday at Kasuwar Daji Primary School after three other aspirants—Hon. Bashir Muhammad Madaro (Walin Kurya), Hon. Anas S/Fada, and Alhaji Ashiru Hamisu Habibu—stepped down from the race in a show of party unity.
Thirty delegates drawn from the six wards of the constituency—Kagara, Dan-Isa, Sakajiki, Kurya, Kyambarawa, and Banga—unanimously affirmed Sa’idu’s candidacy.
Announcing the results, Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee sent from the party’s national headquarters, Barrister Babande B. Imam, declared Kamilu Sa’idu as the duly elected candidate, stating that the process was transparent and in line with the party’s constitution.
“Kamilu, having fulfilled all the party’s constitutional requirements and affirmed by the delegates of the six wards of the state assembly constituency, in the presence of INEC Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Isah and his team, is hereby declared the candidate of the APC for the forthcoming by-election in the state,” Imam announced.
He emphasized that the primary was free of irregularities and met all legal and procedural standards.
The three aspirants who stepped down pledged to support Sa’idu and work for the overall success of the APC in the by-election.
Present at the primary were key party stakeholders, including the state party chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani; Secretary, Hon. Ibrahim Umar Dangaladima; Deputy Chairman, Alh. Hassan Marafa Damri; former APC Chairman, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, and his secretary, Hon. Sani Musa T/Mafara.
Other notable attendees included members of the state working committee such as Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau; Welfare Secretary, Bashir Idris Ataka; State Youth Leader, Musa Idris Ardo; and Assistant Publicity Secretary, Junaidu Attahiru Dosara.
With the APC’s internal process concluded, attention now turns to the August 16 by-election as the party gears up to retain the Kaura Namoda North seat in the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
