Morocco Tops Africa’s Tourism Charts With 4 Million Visitors in Early 2025
Morocco has officially emerged as the most visited country in Africa, reaffirming its position as a premier global travel destination.
According to newly released data, the North African nation welcomed an impressive 4 million international tourists in the first three months of 2025 alone a figure that outpaces any other country on the continent during the same period.
Tourism authorities attribute the surge to Morocco’s sustained investments in infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, stable security environment, and aggressive global marketing campaigns. From the bustling souks of Marrakech to the tranquil beaches of Agadir and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, the country continues to attract a wide range of visitors.
“This performance confirms the resilience and appeal of our tourism sector,” a spokesperson from Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism said. “We are not only recovering from global travel slowdowns but exceeding pre-pandemic numbers.”
Analysts say Morocco’s streamlined visa policies, expanding flight routes, and high-profile international events have further strengthened its appeal as a gateway between Europe, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa.
With peak travel seasons still ahead, the country is on track to surpass its annual record of 14.5 million visitors set in 2019.
