Edo Deputy Governor: APC Guided by Constitution, Rules During Ovia Bye-Election Primary

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains a party anchored on constitutional processes and internal democratic principles.

Idahosa made the statement on Saturday while speaking with journalists during the conduct of the APC primary election for the Ovia Federal Constituency bye-election, scheduled to hold on August 16.

In a press statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor said the peaceful and well-organised conduct of the primary across wards in the constituency reflects the party’s adherence to democratic norms and its constitution.

“APC is a leadership-driven political party,” Idahosa said after casting his vote at Iguobazuwa West, Ward 2. “It is a party whose internal workings and decisions are guided by its constitution and rules.”

He expressed satisfaction with the turnout and conduct of voters in his ward and other areas he visited, praising the electorate for their peaceful participation in the exercise.

“This is my ward, Iguobazuwa West Ward 2. Voting here was impressive as a mammoth crowd endorsed Omosede Igbinedion,” he stated.

The deputy governor emphasized that the transparent process witnessed at the primary was a reflection of true internal democracy within the APC and further proof of the party’s respect for Nigerian laws and democratic principles.

The APC primary is in preparation for the August 16 bye-election in Ovia Federal Constituency, following a vacancy in the seat.
