Snoop Dogg Now Part Owner of Swansea Football Club

In a stunning twist blending global entertainment with British football, legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has been unveiled as a co-owner of Championship side Swansea City, the Welsh club officially announced on Thursday.

The 53-year-old American music icon — real name Calvin Broadus — joins a growing and eclectic ownership team at the Liberty Stadium, which already includes Croatia international and former Real Madrid star Luka Modric.

The announcement follows a week of growing speculation after Snoop made a surprise appearance on Swansea’s social media channels, modelling the club’s new home kit for the 2025–26 season.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop said via a statement on the club’s official website. “The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

His involvement comes as part of an expanding vision led by American investors Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who took over the club in November 2024. With an eye on boosting revenue, improving squad investment, and ultimately securing promotion back to the Premier League — where Swansea last played in 2018 — the new owners are banking on star power to elevate the club’s profile.

Snoop Dogg, who boasts over 100 million followers across social media platforms, is expected to play a key role in expanding Swansea’s global reach, particularly among younger audiences and fans outside traditional football markets.

“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City,” the club’s ownership said in a statement. “Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.”

The rapper’s unexpected leap into football ownership mirrors the success of fellow celebrities like Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, whose takeover of Welsh side Wrexham in 2020 sparked a Hollywood-fueled fairytale rise to the Championship. Swansea’s leadership will hope for a similar trajectory.

Modric, who recently signed with AC Milan at the age of 39 following a decorated career with Real Madrid, was announced in April as a minority stakeholder in the club, further cementing Swansea’s transformation under its ambitious new ownership group.

Swansea City will begin their 2025–26 Championship campaign next month, now under the global spotlight with West Coast rap royalty backing their push for top-flight football once more.
