You Can’t Join Osun APC Through Backdoor, Omisore Warns Adeleke

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has cautioned Governor Ademola Adeleke against attempting to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun through political connections outside the state.
Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a current affairs programme aired on Channels Television, Omisore emphasized that anyone seeking to become part of the APC must engage with the party’s grassroots structure rather than relying on influence from other states or the federal level.
“Governor Adeleke is free, constitutionally, to associate with any political party of his choice. However, joining the Osun APC isn’t something that can be done by aligning with Governor Dapo Abiodun or lobbying through Abuja,” Omisore said. “Politics is local. If he’s serious about coming to the APC, he must start from the grassroots.”
Omisore further dismissed any suggestions of division within the Osun APC, insisting that the party remains united and has a clearly defined structure that must be respected by new entrants.
The comments come amid growing speculation about Governor Adeleke’s future political moves, particularly following recent high-profile defections of two PDP governors Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State to the APC.
While Omisore hinted that Adeleke’s alleged interest in the APC could be driven by concerns over re-election prospects, he maintained that proper procedures must be followed.
Governor Adeleke has since denied any plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that he remains committed to the platform that brought him to power.
