Tinubu Tops Online Following in His Cabinet with 4.5 Million Contacts

President Bola Tinubu has the largest online following in his cabinet, with 4.5 million followers across major social media platforms.
This accounts for 26.6% of the cabinet’s total digital footprint. The combined following of Nigeria’s 51 ministers stands at approximately 17 million followers, with over 60% concentrated among just five individuals.
The top ministers in terms of online presence are Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila with 1.6 million followers, Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate with 1.46 million followers, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo with 1.37 million followers, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike with 1.33 million followers.
However, the report also reveals that two ministers have zero followers across all platforms, while several others have fewer than 500 followers. Twitter is the most popular platform, with almost all ministers active and attracting 9.4 million followers combined. In contrast, TikTok and LinkedIn are underutilized, with only 7 and 17 ministers present, respectively.
Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, is the only minister with a presence on all five platforms.
The report highlights concerns about the government’s digital communication strategy, suggesting a dependency on a few prominent figures while others remain largely absent online.
