Social Influencer to be Arraigned for Campaign Against PWAN

Controversial social media influencer, Scott Iguma is set to be arraigned today, July 17, before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi on a 10-count charge linked to his online campaign against real estate company PWAN.
Iguma, known for his outspoken activism on consumer rights, came under public spotlight following a series of posts he began publishing on May 7, 2025, targeting PWAN, a major player in Nigeria’s real estate sector. In an Instagram video, he alleged that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had labeled PWAN a Ponzi scheme and urged Nigerians to avoid any dealings with the company.
The online campaign intensified on May 16 when Iguma claimed he had taken alleged victims of PWAN and other real estate companies — including Deluxe Residences, Ochacho Real Homes, and Gtext Homes — to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to him, some firms subsequently refunded aggrieved clients, but PWAN failed to do so.
Since then, Iguma has consistently used his social media platform to publish fresh allegations against the firm, including one case involving a client who reportedly completed payment for six plots of land and a home in 2020 but never received the promised allocation.
Ahead of today’s court proceedings, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Iguma had been taken into custody. Details of the 10-count charge have not yet been made public.
Reactions on social media have been divided. While some Nigerians praise Iguma’s activism and accuse PWAN of long-standing malpractice, others believe he may have overstepped legal boundaries in his campaign.
