Shettima, Ministers in Daura for Buhari’s Third-Day Fidau Prayers

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to lead a federal government delegation to Daura today (Wednesday) for the third-day Fidau prayers in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Acting on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President will be joined by notable figures including Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, as well as several ministers and other dignitaries. The prayers will take place at the late president’s residence in Daura, in accordance with Islamic traditions.

This follows Buhari’s burial held a day earlier, also in Daura, after he passed away in London at the age of 82.

Meanwhile, a condolence register has been opened at the Admin Wing of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where staff members have been filing in solemnly to pay their respects and pen heartfelt tributes.

Though known publicly for his austere and reserved nature, Buhari’s legacy among State House staff reflects a more nuanced image — one of discipline, professionalism, and quiet compassion. While he maintained strict boundaries and demanded accountability, several aides recall moments of warmth, wit, and attentiveness to their welfare.

“He was firm but fair. Once he trusted your work, he gave you space to grow,” one staff member shared.

Throughout his presidency, Buhari remained committed to reform, integrity, and loyalty, leaving behind a legacy marked by both strength and understated kindness
