Mr Eazi Says He’s Been on Vacation All Year, Embraces Time Off After Years of Hustle

Popular Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, Mr Eazi, has revealed that he has been on vacation throughout the year, choosing to step away from his busy routine to enjoy an extended break. The artist made this known in a recent social media post, where he spoke candidly about the need to rest after spending much of his life working nonstop.

According to him, the decision to take time off initially came with some guilt, especially given how long he has been active in both the music and business scenes. However, after reflecting on his journey starting from working since the age of 15 he embraced the break as a well-earned opportunity to rest, recharge, and live life on his own terms. He described the current phase as a “chop life season,” highlighting a mindset shift toward prioritizing peace and enjoyment over constant hustle.

Mr Eazi, whose career has spanned music, technology, and investments, has long defied industry norms. While he rose to fame with hits like “Skin Tight” and “Leg Over,” his impact extends beyond music. He has backed African startups through his investment firm, empowered emerging talents across the continent with his emPawa initiative, and redefined what it means to be a modern African creative. His recent decision to slow down, therefore, reflects not a lack of ambition but a recalibration of focus.

In recent years, Mr Eazi has also spoken about the toll that success can take. Following major performances on global stages, including Coachella, he admitted to feeling emotionally drained and disconnected. At one point, he revealed he stopped listening to music entirely due to burnout and had to re-evaluate his purpose. These revelations painted the picture of an artist who, despite global recognition, remained grounded enough to know when to pause.

The news of his year-long vacation has generated widespread reaction, with many fans expressing admiration for his self-awareness. Others see his approach as a bold reminder that rest is not just a luxury but a necessity, especially in high-pressure industries like entertainment. While some are eager to see him return to the spotlight, the general sentiment is one of support for his choice to step back.

As it stands, Mr Eazi has not shared when or how he plans to re-enter the music scene. But one thing is clear he remains firmly in control of his narrative, choosing peace over pressure and balance over burnout. His journey continues to inspire a generation not just to succeed, but to succeed sustainably.
