Aiyedatiwa’s Senior Aide Resigns Amid Alleged Tensions Over Appointments, Governance Style

The Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Community Engagement (North), Bode Obanla, has resigned from his position, sparking speculations about growing internal rifts within the state government. Obanla’s resignation came just a day after the governor swore in 16 new commissioners. In his resignation letter, he stated that his decision was based on a desire to focus on personal business and other private commitments. He also confirmed the return of all government property in his possession, including an official Hilux vehicle. However, political insiders suggest the resignation is rooted in deeper tensions within the administration. Sources close to the development allege that Obanla and several other loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have grown frustrated with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership style, describing it as unilateral and non-inclusive. “The governor has been running a one-man show,” one source claimed. “Many people who worked hard to support him politically feel abandoned, especially in the recent appointment process.” There have been reports of dissatisfaction among party stakeholders who say they were sidelined during the selection of commissioners and other key political positions. The lack of consultation, some party members argue, undermines the spirit of party unity and could lead to further resignations. As of press time, the governor’s office has not issued an official response to Obanla’s resignation. Political observers warn that unless the governor adopts a more inclusive approach to governance and party engagement, the tensions could escalate and threaten the stability of his administration.
